How To Play Paintball
Upon arriving at the Cochrane outdoor paintball field you will suit yourself up in a clean camouflage or white winter uniform as well as chest protector (if needed). Next, all players fill out and submit a waiver form enforcing the safety rules and liabilities. The waiver does require a witness but it doesn't have to be a parent/guardian signature. Most groups fill out the waivers on game day but if you would like to pre-fill them out a link can be found here. After handing in the waiver everyone is issued a day tracking number. Now you will look at the 6 different levels of paintball markers and the paintball pricing sheet. The various levels of markers perform better as you go up through the levels. The main difference is how far, fast, and accurate they shoot. It's kind of like renting a car in that you can rent better equipment. Choose your desired package as well as pick a face mask.

Paintballs can last a long time or can go quickly depending on the individual operating the marker. Choose the package that best suits your budget. The more paintballs you start with, the less expensive extras are later on. The packages are set up in a bulk scale, so the more you buy initially, the less you pay per paintball. Everyone must buy at least the minimum 100 paintballs for $18. For groups, the cheapest way is to start everyone with the minimum 100 and then start one person in the group with a larger amount (i.e. - 500, 1000, 2000, etc). You then share the paintballs and split the cost. This is the cheapest way and also gets you the cheapest extra balls if required. No outside paintballs are allowed and we have a field specific color and type to easily identify outside balls. Payment is accepted by cash, debit, Visa, MasterCard,  and American Express and Discover.

You will then be taken out by the gun instructor and taught how to play fun, safe, paintball. This involves loading up your paintballs and going to the target range where you will be instructed on how to operate your gun and fill up your compressed air tank (free unlimited fills) as well as test fire your marker to ensure that it is working properly. After choosing teams pickup your flag and listen to the rules of the game of "Capture The Flag". With 116 acres and 20 courses all groups play privately unless they choose to join with other groups. If you do have a smaller group and want to find others to join, or even if you only have a group of 1 or 2 players, feel free to come out and our staff will gladly help you find others to play with.

Due to the variety of terrain that outdoor paintball has to offer, there are many different ways the sport can be played. The following list is intended for more experienced players and groups who wish to add a new challenge to their game, or try something new and different. Instructors can clarify or arrange these games for your group. We recommend you print out the rules for any game(s) you would like to play, and go over them with the entire group making sure everyone clearly understands them. Please read carefully, as some games may require materials to be brought to the paintball field.

  • Capture the Flag
  • Centre Flag/Football
  • Attack and Defend (Gully Course)
  • Downed Pilot
  • Civil War/One Shot
  • Foxes and Hounds
  • Roundup
  • Vampire

  • Games are played regardless of weather conditions. So rain, snow and wind become just another element of the game. Remember, the game of paintball is intended to be pure fun, and is an exciting way of getting fresh air and a workout, while testing your stamina, and strategy with friends. We also have a lodge to warm up in between games and remember the cover from the trees and forest guards against snow, wind, and rain so you can more easily play even if the conditions aren't ideal.
