Outdoor Paintball: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) |
Do you have corporate or group rates?
CTF’s pricing is already priced for group and corporate events, so we do not have a specific corporate rate. Corporate or 'group rate' pricing can be obtained by getting coupons from all the major coupon books that schools and churches sell. This can reduce
by 50% or saves the entire $7 game fee. Another option is to buy everyone
but one person in the group the minimum 100 paintballs and whatever markers
you choose. One person, typically the group leader, then gets the maximum
2000 paintballs and shares the balls and splits the cost. All extra balls
are then priced at our lowest rate of 7.5 ˘ per
ball + GST. Note - Everyone in the group must get at least the 100 minimum
paintballs. For groups of 25+ players we will waive the $7 game fee. Please
note you must actually have 25+ players on game day to receive this
discount.
What can I expect to pay?
Game Fee of $7 each or obtain coupons to save part or all of this. Then pick out your level of paintball gun (1 to
6) and your paintballs. For example, 125 paintballs are $20. Set a quota/limit per player if you are paying. The paintball guns are semi-automatic (which
means every time you pull the trigger, the gun fires one ball) and therefore
you control the
output of balls. You can make paintballs last a long time or you can use
them up quickly. All the different packages are listed here.
Can I bring in my own paintballs?
No, outside paintballs are NOT allowed. It is our source of living. We have a special color and type of paintball
and can easily spot outside balls. Any groups caught using outside balls are
automatically charged $50 each. Remember that you can reduce your paintball cost by originally buying a larger amount of paintballs from us. Thanks for supporting our business.
Do you sell the guns?
Yes, we sell limited amounts of our pre-owned paintball guns at our Outdoor
Cochrane field. We also have a selection of used markers for sale at the SE
Laser Trek facility. Call 403-247-8887 and we can tell you what we currently have
in stock.
Do you refill compressed air? What does it cost? Do you have CO2?
Yes, we will refill compressed air at $5 per day with unlimited refills if
you have your own air tank. Refills are free if you rent our paintball guns. Yes, we fill CO2 tanks and the cost is $3 to $6 per fill depending on the size of the tank
or rent one of our compressed air tanks for the day with unlimited refills
for $7 (typically cheaper that refilling CO2).
Are you open when the weather is bad?
Yes we're open rain, sleet or snow all year 'round. We have a house (like
a ski lodge) to change up in and warm up in. Dressed properly, you can easily play
in any weather conditions and have FUN. If you are concerned about the weather you can switch your booking to
another date or to our Laser Trek facility in SE Calgary for lasertag or
airsoft, even if it is last minute. Always call before canceling. Just
because the weather is bad in Calgary doesn't mean it is at our facility.
What is the difference between the gun levels?
Basically, the higher the level of gun, the better it functions. This includes increased speed, accuracy as well as decreases the chance of gun issues or breakdowns. The pricing chart here shows the velocities of the paintball guns at each level.
It's kind of like renting a car in that there are fancier types to rent.
Can I bring my own gun?
Yes, as long as your feet per second is under 300 feet per second. We have chronographs to check all paintball guns. Safety, safety, safety!
If you have your own equipment click here to view the Vet pricing.
Can I bring my own safety equipment?
Absolutely, as long as it conforms to our safety standards.
Ski goggles are not permitted to be used.
My son or daughter wants to play outdoor paintball. How old should they be to play?
We suggest 10 years of age and up to play paintball. We have had many 8 and 9
year olds play, however, they must be aware that a hit from a paintball can
have a bee sting effect sometimes. Kids that play hockey, soccer and/or
lacrosse tend to enjoy paintball. For young groups we recommend that at least 2 adults play, one for each team. There
are chest protectors and facemasks for everyone and all groups play privately
unless they choose to join with others.
Do I have to sign a waiver?
Yes, everyone who is playing must fill out a waiver. The oldest person tends to be the witness! Parents
do not have to be the witness for their child. Any adult can be the witness and not be liable.
If you want to pre-fill out a waiver,
click here for a printable version.
Do you serve alcohol?
No, we don’t sell alcohol and alcohol is no longer allowed at our
facility as per ALCB rules.
Do you sell food?
We offer a free hotdog barbeque and crystal powdered drinks all day long. We
also sell chips, pop/soda, and chocolate bars. You are encouraged to make it
a tailgate party and bring any additional food and/or drink you want such as burgers,
steaks, pop, chips, cake, etc.
Do you have Bus Service?
Yes, we have our own basic school bus for rent for $20 each with a minimum
charge of $400. Our pickup location is NW Crowfoot Shanks or we can quote a price from your preferred location.
Click Here for more detailed information on our
bus service. We also have a partnership with Party Machine for bus
transportation. Contact them at 403-207-0287 for a quote or visit their
website at
http://www.partymachine.ca for more info. Be sure to tell them that
Capture The Flag/Paintball, Laser Trek & Airsoft referred you!
I want to play paintball, but I don’t have a group. Can I come out and play by joining another group?
Yes, you may come out and join existing groups that are looking for 'joiners'. Please
always call ahead to review bookings because some groups prefer private sessions only.
On weekends there are almost always groups to join up with but please still
call ahead.
How many paintballs do I need?
There is no specific answer to this question as there tends to be a wide range of consumption of paintballs depending on the
individual. Every marker shoots one paintball every time you pull the trigger. Children will easily use whatever you are willing to buy them so
it is best to determine your budget and then anything above and beyond that they are responsible for on their own.
The cheapest way to do it is to start everyone in the group with the minimum
100 paintballs as everyone must purchase at least this amount. Then start
one person with a larger amount (500, 1000, 2000) and split the balls and
share the cost. This also gets you cheaper extras if required.
What is the best time/day to play?
If you are coming in the spring/summer note that Saturdays and Sundays are, by
far, our busiest days. To avoid the crowds try to book Monday to Friday. If
you are coming on a weekend, try to avoid the crowds by coming early (9 - 10
AM) or later (2 PM onwards) in the day. If you are playing during the fall
or winter crowds are not near as big but please always call 403-247-8887 to
prebook, do not just show up. What if I decide to play and it's a
last minute thing?
Obviously the earlier you book the more likely you will get the exact time and
date you want. However, we are large and almost always can find room even
last minute so feel free to give us a call, even if it is the day of, and we
can likely fit you in. Can I play paintball during the winter?
We are open all year round, including the winter! Don’t let any negative
weather scare you, you can still easily play and have a lot of fun, even in
cooler conditions. We have a house to warm up in between games and the trees
act as a canopy while you are playing. People ski on top of mountains so as
long as you are dressed properly you can still have tons of fun playing
outdoor paintball. Paintballs actually hurt less during the winter since you
are wearing more clothing. Here are some additional tips for playing “winter
ball”:
- Dress in layers –Wear a light glove on your trigger finger hand – Wear a
walking boot or winter boot if possible, or bring an extra set of shoes to
change into after playing –Ear bands are better than heavy toques.
